Department of Hawaiian Home Lands Waikapū subdivision clears a hurdle

The 48-acre Department of Hawaiian Home Lands Pu’unani subdivision in Waikapu — with its 135-plus units projected for completion in 2024 — cleared a major hurdle by receiving a finding of no significant environmental impact last month. The Hawaiian Homes Commission evaluated the final environmental assessment and issued the finding at its October meeting.

Breaking Ground – Maluaka and the Cottages at Canoe Bay

This 11-acre gated project is on southern Maui’s western coast at Makena Bay, with the 18th hole of a golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., separating it from the coastline. There will be 69 total residences: 2,300 to 3,500 square-foot, two- to three-bedroom units in 11 two- to four-story buildings and two three-bedroom, 4,500-square-foot bungalows.
